Making Gearboxes For Rides And Amusement Parks is Not a Game. Our Experience

For some time now at Riduttori Italia we have been dealing with gearboxes for rides, used in amusement park and amusement park attractions.

Initially to intervene in the revamping and maintenance of gearboxes designed by others: a great challenge to intervene on composite constructions - often complicated - to guarantee new life through overhauling, sometimes reconstructing parts and details.

Then the level of the challenge increased, having to respond directly to customers who presented important construction and performance specifications: they needed gearboxes to be applied to innovative projects from a functional point of view, both in terms of dimensions and structure of the carousel and mechanical movements provided for in it.

It's easy to say "carousel" if you don't know in depth what mechanical, technical and design refinements are contained in it.

From here - to respond to a request made by a manufacturer - our experience was born: therefore study of the projects, evaluation of the powers and forces involved, design and then construction, tests, evaluations and checks. Finally - after all this - a nice ride on the "carousel" knowing that we were moved by something that we at Riduttori Italia had thought of, built, tested and supplied.

The particularity of the field of use of these groups requires them to be designed to guarantee safety, reliability and durability.

We have focused on the important features that gearboxes designed for these specific applications must possess:

  • Robustness: Gearboxes must be constructed of high-quality, durable materials so that they can withstand heavy loads, shocks and vibrations during the operation of the ride.
  • Reliability: They must be designed to operate reliably for long periods of time without failure or malfunction, since user safety depends on smooth operation.
  • Energy efficiency: Gearboxes must be able to maximize energy efficiency. In this way it is possible to reduce the operating costs and the environmental impact of the ride.
  • Safety: Safety comes first. Gearboxes must be equipped with integrated safety systems to prevent overloading, overheating and other potential risks during operation.
  • Easy maintenance: They must be designed to allow easy maintenance and lubrication, with easy access for regular inspections and repairs if necessary.
  • Noise reduction: rides are frequented by many people and installed in amusement parks (both traveling ones and fixed installations), it is important that reducers are designed to minimize noise during operation.
  • Compact dimensions: Considering that space inside the ride is often limited, gearboxes must be designed in a compact and space-efficient manner.
  • Load Capacity: Gearboxes must be able to handle the weights and forces generated during ride operation without compromising safety or efficiency. For this reason we use the most advanced design technologies which allow us to evaluate all aspects of the gearbox to be created.
  • Durability: They must be designed to withstand intensive use over time. Long operational life - with regular, scheduled maintenance - is one of the features our customers ask for. It means safety, management economy, quality guarantee.
  • Compatibility with safety regulations: our customers work all over the world, dealing with the most complex and disparate commercial, technical and regulatory needs. The reduction units must be designed and built in compliance with the specific safety regulations of the sector, of the country in which they will be installed and with recognized international standards.

The safe and efficient operation of amusement park attractions: this is what our customers expect.

For gearbox, ensuring this is our job.
